About QSO

 

The Qatar Support Office (QSO) was established in 2003 and is a unit within the
International Programs Office at Texas A&M University.  Currently the Qatar Support Office supports all faculty and staff members at the TAMUQ campus, as well as
providing support for the administrators, faculty and staff in College Station involved with the TAMUQ project.

MISSION:

  • To serve as the operational liaison between the TAMU College Station campus and the Qatar campus
  • To provide relocation, resettlement, and reentry assistance to Texas A&M University at Qatar (TAMUQ) employees
  • To coordinate recruitment of faculty and staff to TAMUQ

Services:

  • Serve as the communication link between the campuses
  • Provide 24-hour emergency service to faculty/staff of TAMUQ
  • Coordinate visa/immigration processing for faculty/staff relocating or visiting Qatar
  • Coordinate the processing of the employee offer letters for TAMUQ
  • Coordinate medical exams for TAMUQ employees before departure
  • Coordinate school arrangements for dependents of TAMUQ faculty/staff
  • Provide cultural orientations and language instruction for faculty/staff relocating to TAMUQ
  • Provide air travel arrangements for faculty/staff relocating or visiting Qatar
  • Assist in housing arrangements for faculty/staff relocating to TAMUQ
  • Coordinate the shipping of personal belongings for faculty/staff relocating to TAMUQ
  • Provide daily mail service to faculty/staff of TAMUQ
  • Coordinate with the colleges and administrative units on the recruitment effort for TAMUQ faculty/staff
  • Coordinate TAMUQ outreach efforts in the U.S. with Dean and CEO of TAMUQ
  • Provide cultural and language programs to the TAMU faculty, staff and students who have an interest in the region
  • Provide support for major events at TAMUQ
  • Provide support for major events associated with the Qatar program at TAMU
  • Provide support to student programs and activities related to the Qatar program
  • Provide administrative support for TAMUQ administrators at TAMU
  • Provide resettlement and reentry assistance to TAMUQ employees
  • Facilitate student exchange activities between TAMUQ and TAMU
  • Process QSO budgets, handle reimbursements and assist with payroll processing, in consultation with Assistant Dean of TAMUQ and TAMU Assistant Provost for Finance
  • Assist with the preparation of the TAMUQ budget
  • Provide administrative support to TAMUQ Management Board
  • Provide administrative support to TAMU-QF Joint Advisory Board
